1CH Focus Demo
This is the signature beginner workflow for FreeBCI Spike 1CH LH001: connect one channel, stream into FreeBCI DAQ, and run the Engagement Index / focus demo.
What You Are Demonstrating
This workflow is designed to show:
- the board can stream into FreeBCI DAQ
- the signal path is stable enough for live analysis
- FreeBCI DAQ can compute Engagement Index
- the built-in focus calibration workflow can run end to end
Setup Expectation
For the 1CH demo:
- one effective acquisition channel is enough
- one site binding is enough to complete the workflow
- the emphasis is signal stability and EI / focus behavior, not spatial coverage
DAQ Path
- Open FreeBCI DAQ
- Confirm hardware parameters on Setup
- Add one acquisition site binding
- Open the wired connection
- Start collection
- Move to Live
- Move to Engagement & Focus
If you want the generic platform steps first, see Connect to FreeBCI DAQ.
What You Should See
In a healthy demo run:
- a live waveform appears on the Live page
- filtered signal follows the raw signal with less visible noise
- the FFT-based charts begin updating after the initial analysis window fills
- the EI trend starts moving after the warmup and rolling windows are populated
Focus Calibration
The 1CH module is a good fit for the built-in focus demo because the workflow is simple:
- Complete warmup
- Collect a baseline reference
- Start the active decision window
- Watch Focused / Not focused outputs update over time
See Engagement & Focus for the platform details behind the state machine.
When to Move to 8CH
Move to 8CH when:
- you want more than a single-channel demo
- you need simultaneous coverage of multiple sites
- you want richer multichannel monitoring and analysis
Next step: Upgrade from 1CH to 8CH
