8CH First Power-On

Validate the hardware as a system before attempting a full electrode setup.

Before Power-On

Check:

  • board matches the intended 8CH release
  • analog front-end soldering looks clean
  • connectors are correctly oriented
  • no visible shorts or battery wiring mistakes
  • the test environment follows the safety guidance for isolated prototyping

First Bring-Up Goal

The first goal is not "full EEG" yet. The first goal is:

  • stable power
  • no thermal or obvious hardware faults
  • stable enough operation to enter the DAQ workflow
  1. Power the board without electrodes attached
  2. Watch for obvious fault behavior
  3. Connect the board to the DAQ environment
  4. Confirm the device can be opened over USB serial
  5. Prepare channel bindings before serious data collection

Why 8CH Needs More Discipline

Compared with 1CH, a multichannel board creates more places where setup quality matters:

  • each channel can fail independently
  • site mapping matters for interpretation
  • noise, reference quality, and lead quality can differ by channel

That means a careful staged bring-up saves time later.
