8CH Multichannel EEG Setup
Use this workflow when you want the full FreeBCI DAQ multichannel experience: multiple bound sites, multiple live waveforms, and richer monitoring.
What This Workflow Is For
Use the 8CH path when:
- you want multiple EEG channels active at the same time
- you want one site binding per acquisition channel
- you want a fuller monitoring view than the 1CH focus demo
DAQ Expectations
Compared with the 1CH demo:
- add a binding row for each active channel
- confirm site names carefully before streaming
- validate signal quality across channels, not just once globally
Recommended DAQ Path
- Open FreeBCI DAQ
- Confirm hardware parameters
- Add and confirm site bindings for each channel
- Open the wired serial connection
- Start collection
- Inspect the Live page channel by channel
- Review Engagement & Focus and other analysis surfaces once the stream is stable
For the common platform steps, see Connect to FreeBCI DAQ.
What You Should Validate
Before treating a run as a valid multichannel session, confirm:
- every intended channel is bound to the right site
- waveforms are live and believable across channels
- obvious bad channels are identified early
- the session is stable enough for downstream analysis
FreeBCI DAQ Features That Matter More in 8CH
These DAQ surfaces become more valuable once you move beyond 1CH:
Relationship to 1CH
The 8CH workflow is not a different software platform. It is the next level of the same platform.
If you have already completed the 1CH focus demo, most of the DAQ mechanics will feel familiar. The added work is in the hardware, channel mapping, and multichannel validation.
